Occupational Therapy (OT) is a diverse field of practice that services individuals of all ages who are experiencing physical, mental, and/or developmental disabilities. An Occupational Therapist (OT) works to rehabilitate patients to independently return to their occupations of everyday life. OTs assess and provide client-based treatment to minimize or eliminate functional barriers experienced during activities of daily living (ADLs), work demands, leisure, social participation, and play. OTs are also trained in wheelchair seating, home safety assessments/ setup, workstation assessments/ setup, and fabrication of orthotics.

What to Expect at Your First Occupational Therapy Appointment

At Pro Staff Physical Therapy, we pride ourselves on making our patients feel comfortable every step of the way. At your first OT appointment we will first listen to your story and understand where you are at in your journey back to full health.

Your occupational therapist will ask you a variety of questions to dive deeper into the issue that you are having. From there they will perform a hands-on assessment to see where any limitations in strength, mobility, or pain may be coming from.

During this appointment you will be moving, and we want you to be comfortable so please dress in loose, comfortable clothing. Having a pair of shorts would also be helpful if you are dealing with any lower body issue.

Once your assessment is completed your occupational therapist will come up with a treatment plan that is focused on your needs and movement goals.
