New program offers reliable and comfortable transportation options for patients
Pro Staff Institute is proud to announce their participation in Uber Health, a new transportation program designed to provide transportation to patients. Pro Staff Institute is the first physical therapy center in the nation to leverage Uber Health, and joins over other 100 health care organizations in the U.S., including hospitals, clinics, rehab centers and senior care facilities.
“At Pro Staff we believe it’s unacceptable for any patient to be deprived of therapy services due to transportation challenges,” said Michael Maffucci, Pro Staff’s CEO. “We are committed to helping patients achieve their health goals as quickly as possible, and providing transportation is part of that commitment.”
Today, Uber unveiled its new service, with the goal of decreasing missed appointments to improve healthcare outcomes for patients. In a recent statement, Chris Weber, General Manager of Uber Health wrote, “every year, 3.6 million Americans miss doctor appointments due to a lack of reliable transportation. No-show rates are as high as 30% nationwide. And while transportation barriers to healthcare access are common across the general population, these barriers are greatest for vulnerable populations, including patients with the highest burden of chronic disease.”
Uber Health’s new, web-based dashboard gives providers increased scheduling flexibility and management options. Administrators can schedule rides for patients on the spot or up to 30 days in advance, so patients may access the service without a smartphone.
